Paid parking is required: most places in Iceland have super easy payment app that can download to pay for parking. You do need to pay for parking at home trail head parking lots and it can easily be done through apps like PARKA.

The Hike: Follow the flat trail to the right of the museum. The path runs directly into the Kvernugil gorge alongside a flowing river. Expect a 15 to 20 minute walk to reach the base of the 98-foot falls.

My personal favourite! During nesting season, you can witness hundreds — if not thousands — of puffins in the early morning or evening hours before they head out to sea to fish. Peak season for seeing these little friends is June and July, though early August still offers a chance to spot them.
